昨晚，我所參加的 iamheart 冥想導師訓練，來到這一年半的最後一個關卡，9天的密集課程 (Residency Intensitve)。
說是關卡，因為昨天下午和同學 Munira 碰面後，彼此分享最近的生活，Munira 笑說，在上週的小組課，她的同組同學說：「你們有感受到 Residency 要來臨的風暴嗎？」
身心靈課程令人感覺奇妙（同時也壓力山大）的是，總在上課前，生活上會連環爆，好似就是等著去上課，能把這些浮上水面的課題紓解了。所以我們總說，療癒從報名的那刻就已經開始。
第一天的引導冥想中，Susanna 老師提到她最近的生活體驗，她在維也納的媽媽跟姐姐有些生死邊緣的健康狀況，因此即使暑期課程在即，她也必須擔起照顧家人的責任，從美國緊急飛往維也納。
“Die before death.”
關於這句話，祖師爺 Hazrat Inayat Khan (HIK) 這麼說：
The mystic says, “Try to die before death,” and to die before death is to play death; that means to get above this fright which only comes from the false conception of self. (Vol. 10, Sufi Mysticism, 5. The Secret of the Spirit, 4. The Source and Goal)
在 Welcoming Hour 中，Susanna 邀請所有學員分享「此刻你的心最渴望提出的問題」，好多同學不約而同地提到，在過去這一年中的與「死亡」的接觸、身邊親朋好友的離世。而稍後回到小組課，大家也就此主題，談到自己最近預立遺囑時對死亡的焦慮與恐懼（我們有超過 70 歲的同學）、罹癌的經歷與啟發、家人主動脈剝離的經歷、在生活中不斷被置之死地而後生……從物質生命的死亡談到靈性的死亡。
與死亡相伴的是重生 (Resurrection)，如同「魔法公主」中的山獸神，一腳踩在土壤上，花開花謝。
關於「重生」，HIK 說：
In point of fact, through death the soul enters the higher planes of existence freely, and that is the meaning of resurrection…….The negative resurrection takes place when we pass to the higher planes of existence in the lift by means of the breath, and hold on to the rope, the physical body, and come back to the first floor, the earth, again. This is the meaning of those words in the Qur’an, “Die before death.” This negative resurrection is the teaching of the Sufis, and is the whole object of the contemplative life which they lead. It takes away the fear of death, and death becomes “the bridge that unites friend with friend.” (Vol. 5, Pearls from the Ocean Unseen, The Philosophy of the Resurrection)
所以我們每一次的呼吸，都是小小的死與新生，都是死亡的預演。當我們能「有意識地」去預演死亡，我們就能夠去理解「生命」，去真正體驗到在物質生命表象之下，那個「不朽」的東西是什麼，從而超越對物質生命死亡的恐懼。
但回到生活，生活當中的連環爆，也是一串連續不斷的死亡與重生過程啊！只是這條道路的孤獨與榮耀，難以與家人或朋友分享，這種被身邊人理解的渴望與不被理解的離斥感，加諸在生活中最實際的時間分配與角色拉扯，在自我實現與家庭責任義務之間，箇中滋味，如人飲水啊……
